Visualizing Data with Maps in Your Classroom - GIS Workshop

We are pleased to announce that Monroe Community College will be hosting a workshop on GIS Story Maps on August 11th and 12th on the Brighton Campus (south of Rochester, NY). The instructors will be Prof. Michael Jabot (SUNY Fredonia) and Prof. Heather Pierce (Monroe Community College). The title of this two-day professional development is "Visualizing Data with Maps in Your Classroom."

This is a description of the workshop: "This session will share how you can build open source and freely available geospatial technologies into your classroom. We will focus  in particular how these technologies can help shape the way that we can communicate data to others. This workshop is also open to pre-service teachers."

This is actually one of four GeoTech Regional Workshops, supported by teh Ntional Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence (logo above). All participants will receive instruction, hands-on experience, and mentorship as you work on your own projects. The educators will receive a stipend for successful completion.
