Geography Workshop at the Catskill Teacher Center

The Catskill Regional Teacher Center iin Oneonta, NY has invited the New York Geographic Alliance to lead a full-day workshop on January 17, 2020. It will open to all teachers in the region, and NYGA presenters will demonstrate lessons appropriate to ALL grade levels. Geography is an important component in the NYS Social Studies Framework, and it is the goal of the New York Geographic Alliance that all students achieve geo-literacy before they graduate. The NYGA  has many activities and lessons that can help teachers to include more geography in their classrooms. We will use the GIANT Map of New York and many digital lessons during this workshop. Many resources will be provided to participants including the World GeoHistoGram (Global History and Geography), Lessons for the Atlas of New York (Middle School), Erie Canal Module (Elementary). Flash drives with "Clickable PDF" Maps will also be provided.

The CRTC is located on the campus of the State University College of Oneonta in Bugbee Hall Room 312.

We are still working out the details with Aaron Sorensen, the Director of the Catskill Regional Teacher Center, and we will update this page in December. Mr. Sorensen is handling registration, and all the schools in the region should be receiving information about registering in the near future. He can be reached at (607)-436-3920. If you have questions abou tthe content of the workshop, email Timothy McDonnell, Coordinator of the New York Geographic Alliance, or call the NYGA Office at (585)-292-2398.
