Geo-Inquiries Training for Middle School Teachers

The New York Geographic Alliance invites middle school teachers to join us at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY for a two hour Geo-Inquiries Workshop. It will be held on Wed. October 24th from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. A light pizza dinner will be included.

This training is part of National Geographic's National Initiative for 2018. Our goal is to train at least 10 pairs of teachers this fall or early winter. After learning from experts in GIS and cartography, you should be able to work with your students (Grades 6-8) on projects where they follow the Geo-Inquiries method to solve a problem relevant to their lives and to their community.

All middle school teachers are eligible to register, but you must have a partner join you. The best combination is a science teacher with a social studies teacher, but other options will be considered. We will be expecting all teachers who request a certificate of attendance to commit to informing us the projects their students performed in 2019.
