Watershed Symposium - Cornell University

The New York Geographic Alliance has made arrangements to hold a Watershed Symposium at Cornell University on May 31, 2017. It is a culminating activity for our B-WET Upper Susquehanna Project, which has been sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Students and teachers in several of our partner schools have been studying their watersheds over the last couple years. This has including outdoor projects, including stewardship activities to protect these important resources.  They will be displaying and describing their projects at the Symposium.

Our B-WET staff will also be demonstrating projects that all schools can do on their own. This includes using our Water Testing Kits (created by Stephen Vermette of Buffalo State College), Interpreting Topographic Maps on Aerial Imagery, and a workshop on Digital Mapping. Therefore, other schools are invited to join us. You can register by contacting Tim McDonnell, the Coordinator of the New York Geographic Alliance, or you can call the NYGA Office at (585)-292-2398. If your school would like to present a project that you have done relating to a local watershed, we can help you with transportation costs.

We are currently working on the details of this event, so revisit this page in early May. We hope to see you in Ithaca!
